This work will restore links to the cities of Madani, Kosti, and Sennar, as well as Nyala in the western region of Darfur, establishing a cross-border connection to Wau, South Sudan.

We are working towards understanding the potential of international links to railways in adjacent countries. In November 2020, the Sudanese and Egyptian governments signed a joint agreement to conduct economic, social, and environmental feasibility studies to create a new cross-border railway built to Egyptian network specifications. It will be funded by both governments together with a loan from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED). As part of the partnership work and study, both countries agreed to construct the line in April 2021 for freight and passenger trains to increase trade between the Mediterranean region and the rest of the continent. We envisage projects to be undertaken through Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
